About Wendy Mackay (FR)

Wendy Mackay is the head of the ExSitu (Extreme Situated Interaction) research group at Université Paris Sud. Her group conducts groundbreaking research in the field of  Human-Computer Interaction. 

After receiving her PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), she was among the first people to venture into the fields of interactive video and tangible computing.  A pioneer in merging the virtual and real worlds, she has been honoured with several awards, including the ACM/SIGCHI Lifetime Achievement Service Award. She has also received the prestigous ERC Advanced Grant, and has published over 150 peer-reviewed research articles within her field.

Currently her research group is striving to bring down the boundaries between the virtual and real world even further, with their focus lying on co-adaptive instruments, mixed reality, interactive paper and creativity.


Due to unforseen circumstances, this speaker had to cancel their talk at TEDxUHasselt 2016.
