About Angelo Vermeulen
Angelo Vermeulen is an artist, biologist, space systems researcher, and a TED Senior Fellow. His work ties together technological, ecological, and social systems through group engagement and collaboration.
In 2009 he launched 'Space Ecologies Art and Design (SEAD)', a platform for artistic research on the architectures and politics of space colonization. Earlier this year he was crew commander of the NASA-funded HI-SEAS Mars simulation in Hawaii. During this four-month experiment he gained first-hand experience in keeping a small group of people connected and productive in isolated conditions.
